Dept. of Insurance to Hold Public Forums on Federal Health Care Law

(Lincoln, Neb.) Nebraska Department of Insurance Director Bruce Ramge today announced three upcoming forums for the public and stakeholders to discuss the state’s available options for health insurance exchanges.    The meetings will focus on the required planning and development of health insurance exchanges which are part of the federal health care law.  

Stakeholder Meetings Scheduled for Planning and Development of a Health Insurance Exchange

The Nebraska Department of Insurance will be hosting several public stakeholder meetings. These meetings are designed to solicit information from stakeholders and members of the public regarding the issues surrounding Nebraska’s available options for the planning and development of a Health Insurance Exchange.

Meetings will be held in all three congressional districts. The stakeholder meetings currently scheduled are as follows:

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), the number of employees required for purposes of the issuance of small group health insurance has been increased to 100, however, a state may opt to keep that number at 50, which is current Nebraska law.
