Current annual statement information that companies file with state regulators and with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) can be accessed online. Go to the NAIC's CIS web site at Consumer Information Source.
Basic financial information is available on the CIS web site at no cost, and detailed annual statement pages are available for download for a nominal cost. Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to view the financial information.
At the CIS web site, enter the company name and the state in which the company is doing business. Check your policy for the correct company name as your coverage may be issued by a subsidiary with a different name. Use only words that are unique to the company name as the lookup function does not work when using the company's full name; the NAIC abbreviates common words such as INS for Insurance and CO for company (ex. type in Allstate, not Allstate Fire & Casualty Insurance Company).
