NEWS RELEASE - Questions About Affordable Care Act to be Addressed

Many Nebraskans still have questions about Obamacare and how it affects their family or small business. In order to answer and reassure Nebraskans about open enrollment on the Marketplace, the Department of Insurance is scheduling meetings across the state to update consumers on changes that are occurring with law and to answer any questions they may have.

“The Department of Insurance has arranged meetings in several locations across the state to separate the Affordable Care Act facts from the rumors and myths that have occurred over the years. We want to provide Nebraskans with the best information possible on how and why they need to purchase insurance for their business or family,” said Director of Insurance Bruce Ramge.

The update will consist of a brief presentation covering the following topics.

  • Brief overview of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)
  • Snapshot of Nebraska’s insurance market and the uninsured rate
  • New health insurance options
  • 2016 premiums
  • Changes to small group insurance and the Small Business Health Options Program
