The Insurance Fraud Prevention Division of the Nebraska Department of Insurance received information from brokers regarding a scam involving a California-based company targeting unsuspected victims nationwide. An investigation has begun and Nebraskans are asked to contact the division if they have had contacts similar to the following description.
Insurance producers and brokers are being solicited to work with the company’s “mortgage company” in writing prequalified policies on auto, life, health and homeowner policies. The solicitation involves a fee for individual leads, however, the leads ultimately do not exist. Insurance producers and brokers are urged to use great care in developing these types of relationships and to use caution when providing account information.
